One’s orientation in career starts with the perception of his motives, skills and values. When the awareness becomes clearer, then we start seeing the “career anchors”. Career anchors are person’s personal needs, values and skills which shape the way he decides for his career. We can also consider “career anchors” as something which is indispensable for an already employed person and which lies beneath self-perception. Numerous studies have shown that perceptions of students have a substantial impact on career choices. Within this context, it is of utmost importance to discuss the career anchors of the university students who are at the first phase of their career lives. The subject of this study comprises of students of the two-year Gerede Vocational High School of Bolu Abant Izzet Baysal University and four-year College of Applied Sciences. The question of whether or not there is dissimilarity between the dominant career values of the two groups has been researched into, in light of data attained through surveys conducted on 180 students in these schools. As a result of the research carried out, it has been found out that there are dominant career values of the individuals who participated in the survey, and moreover, there is a distinction between the two groups.
