Özet:

The opportunity for women’s shelter, provided/to be provided as a service by governments and/or local administrations, non-governmental organizations and for women to move away violence environment, is not yet at the desired level and number in Turkey. This study aims to reveal the type of services and supports provided for women during staying at women’s shelters within the body of local administrations in Ankara and the qualification of such services and supports and determine road map of women during transition process to independent life after leaving women’s shelters. The in-depth interviews by using semi-structured question form were made with 43 women who were exposed to violence and are staying at four different women’s shelters serving by local administrations in Ankara and the data obtained as a result of these interviews was subjected to theming and analysis in the scope of the study. It was determined in the study that the women need economical support during the period both staying at women’s shelters and after leaving women’s shelters, support for attending in vocational courses and finding a job, psychological support, legal support and support for participation in social and cultural activities in the study. It was also determined that the women expect support mostly from government for their life plans after leaving women’s shelters and they demand from government to give salary for them for a certain period, house rent and household goods and free kindergarten services for their children.
