Abstract:

The aim of this study is to demonstrate the adequacy of Social Studies Program, which is updated in 2017, in terms of political literacy ability. In the research, ıt was benefited from document analysis method which is one of the qualitative data collection methods. The data obtained from the study were analyzed according to the stages of the document analysis method. It has been concluded that units, themes and achievements related to political literacy skills have been included in learning areas called as Individual and Society, Effective Citizenship, Production, Distribution and Consumption, Global Connections and People, Places and Environment. The fact that the Social Studies Curriculum, which has seven learning areas, has the unit, theme and achievements related to the political literacy skills in the four learning areas can reveal that the program gives this skill a sufficient level.
