Renewable energy is getting more and more important every day due to the safety concerns of traditional energy sources and their environmental impacts. Even so, even countries with fossil resources are investing in renewable energy sources in order to sustain their current economic status in the coming years. Undoubtedly, these investments have an impact on the economic growth performances of the countries. In this study, the relationship between renewable energy production (YEN) and economic growth (GSYH) in Turkey has been questioned by Johansen Cointegration test and VECM causation. As a result, it has been reported that economic growth is the long-term cause of renewable energy production and that these two variables are cointegrated.
