One of most important criteria for increasing the welfare of a country is ensured by sustainable and rapid economic growth. While many factors have an important role such as economic, social and politics for ensuring it, our focus referred to international trade on economic growth will be discussed. In this study consisting of Turkey’s economy’s GDP annual and foreign trade exports and imports data for 1970-2016 period were analyzed by VAR (Vector Autoregressive) model. We found that there is one-way causality relation between the national income to exports. Otherwise, we haven’t determined causality relation from exports and imports to national income. VAR results showed that, although changes in the national income have a positive effect on exports and imports in short run, exports and imports have no influence on national income. This outcome shows that national income have a featuring role on foreign trade, rather than foreign trade has an effect on it.
