Abstract:

As a result of rapid improvements in the information technology, effectiveness of Small and Medium Sized Enterprises’ (SMEs) has been increased in the recent years. Trade facilities have also enabled exporting and importing to be widespread in the world. Moreover, investors have been reaching to foreign funds in much more easier ways for their investments. As a matter of fact, as to the recent advancements in technolgy, it is no longer an advantage to act in a larger company framework; thus, the SMEs, which use high technology, have been accessing to world market such like large companies.It is difficult to use the International Reporting Standards (IFRS) for the SMEs in their financial statements, as to those standards have been prepared for big companies. Difficulty for this practice could emerge from the characteristics of either the IFRS or the SMEs themselves. It is essential to search the factors of implementing the IFRS on the SMEs in Turkey. Generally, this study examines the IFRS for the SMEs and seeks to find an approach on the implementation of the standards on the SMEs in the Southeast part of Turkey
