Özet:

This study aims to investigate the ways in which undergraduate students follow the social and political agenda in national and global contexts. It was designed as a descriptive quantitative research comprising of 498 undergraduate students 241 of whom registered in Gazi University and the remaining 257 of them attaining Uşak University. The research data was collected from those undergraduates registered in education, engineering, sciences and liberal arts and political and administrative sciences faculties of these two universities in 2012-2013 academic year. A survey designed by the researchers was used as a data collection tool. The study findings indicate that the participants mostly use social networking websites to follow the sociopolitical agenda. Female students have a high level of tendency to use various kinds of tools. While, students over the age of 25 mostly use national broadcasting and publications for following the agenda. Students attaining sciences and liberal arts faculties use the digital sources and tools more than their counterparts in other faculties. The other findings reveal that those students whose families live in metropolitan cities have higher tendency to follow the socio-political agenda. Besides, students of Gazi University use various means of communication and interaction tools more effectively than their counterparts in Uşak University
