Abstract:

Although the first newspaper in the Ottoman Empire was published in 1831, the period in which the newspapers constituted public opinion was 1860's. In the 1860s many newspapers appeared and the newspapers handled the problems of the country independently and directed the people. One of the newspapers published in this period is the Hadika newspaper which appeared in 1870. As Hadika controlled the state's press towards the end of the 1860s, it was a policy of publication that gave more encyclopedic information than political news. Despite the fact that different writings are not seen in Hadika, the majority of the contents are economic writings. It is aimed that the level of economic knowledge of the people should be increased and that they should appeal to economic issues. Hadika worked for the expansion of the company in order to provide economic development in the country and directed the people in this direction. The writings in Hadika were shaped in line with the national economic view. In order for the country to develop economically, the country has tried to imbue the idea of national economy and demanded that it be favored by domestic products in this direction. In the country, "İttihadı Efkar-ı Milliye" stated that the country would be developed economically by not being considered.
