In today’s highly competitive world, firms should develop themselves continuously and improve the quality of their products to maintain their existence. Improving quality of products, complying with international standards, and analyzing the level of product quality are achieved using statistical quality control techniques. Control charts are used to define whether a process is under control or not. Process capability is estimated by calculating the process indices Cp and Cpk. This study aimed to define whether the measurement of front door dynamic closing speed of the automobiles manufactured in an automotive manufacturing plant in Bursa is under statistical control, using X-bar and S control charts. For this purpose, the January 2017 data on front door closing speed measurement was analyzed using SPSS 17 software: process capability and machine capability indices were calculated. In conclusion, it was found that the process is under control and capability. Machine capability index calculation indicates that the left front door closing speed is adequate, whereas right front door closing speed is inadequate.
