Bu araştırmanın amacı, okuma güçlüğü yaşayan bir öğrencinin kelime tanıma ve okuma becerisini geliştirmede akıcı okuma stratejilerinin katkısını irdelemektir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda, çalışma Bayburt il merkezindeki bir ilkokul okulunun 4. sınıfına devam eden ve okuma güçlüğü yaşayan bir öğrenci ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışmada nitel araştırma desenlerinden durum çalışması deseni kullanılmıştır. Veri toplama aracı olarak yanlış analizi envanteri, hikâye edici metinler ve öğrencinin metin okuma sırasındaki kamera kayıtları kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada, okuma güçlüğü yaşayan öğrenci için akıcı okuma stratejilerinin kullanıldığı 45 ders saati süresince bir okuma programı uygulanmıştır. Öğrencinin okuma esnasında yaptığı hatalar betimsel verilerle sunulmuştur. Uygulama sonucunda öğrencinin kelime tanıma ve okuma beceri düzeyinde gelişme olduğu gözlenmiştir.
