This article aims to describe in which different subjects the author express herself or how the author is perceived in different ways by the reader, how the work has been re-built/interpreted in the translation process and the translator’s decision by making interdisciplinary research on autobiographies of Halide Adıvar Edib’s Mor Salkımlı Ev (2011), Memoirs of Halide Edip (1926) and Türkün Ateşle İmtihanı (2011), The Turkish Ordeal (1928) in English and Turkish. In the study, it will be examined in the frame of methods of ethnomethodology which organizes this process/everyday life scientifically by evaluating all individuals one by one but within a holistic view at a research area and on translation studies bases with the theory of Vermeer, in which he tells about the independence, responsibility and cultural duty of translators. Mentioned autobiographies of Halide Edib Adıvar will be used as ethnomethodological materials.
