With the adoption of the Islam, Turkish tribes have encountered many religious concepts pertaining to Islam. It can be observed that, in the early Islamic works such as Kutadgu Bilig and Divânü Lugâti’t-Türk, Arabic terminology involving religious concepts were Turkified. The same effort can also be seen in translations of Koran and some other works. Turkish words of bayat, idi, uŞan, tapug had been used to correspond the following terms respectively; ķadīm, rabb ķādir, ibādet terms. As it is known, after the XIV-XV. centuries those Turkification efforts had been abandoned and in time a full return to Arabic and Persian terms realized. In this article, some religious terms existing in the Works called Kutadgu Bilig, Divânü Lugâti’t-Türk and Ata betü’l-Hakayık are being studied.
