In the new century, relations of humans with nature have become an important problem of the world. As a consequence, the concept of ‘sustainable development’ which is a worldwide policy has become the common concept of many countries. Defined as meeting today’s needs without consuming existing resources for meeting the needs of next generations; ‘sustainable development’ has three dimensions of the development as economic, social and environmental. Thus, conventional environmental education has been replaced by the approach of ‘Education for Sustainable Development’. This approach requires efficient applications. Therefore, the book “The Education of Little Tree” including a different approach towards nature was examined within the scope of this study. The study conducted qualitatively was designed as a case pattern. In the study using document analysis, descriptive analysis and discourse analysis were conducted. As a result of the study, it was determined that the book of “The Education of Little Tree” contained efficient applications that would set an example to children’s trainings for sustainable development. These applications and programs based on children’s participation will enable children to become responsible individuals who are more sensitive to their environment.
