Abstract:

Statistical data states that one of the most popular research subjects within Ottoman architecture history writing tradition starting from early years of republic is Sinan historiography. At first glance it can be misleading to think that such a rich literature accomodation may clarify many secret points about Sinan. Many details related with professional and private life of Sinan still waits for enlightment. This text aims to emphasize and discuss a few issues related with rising and final years of Sinan and to contribute to Sinan historiography within the determined frame. It can be said that these discussions in principal are related with questioning his successor Davud Aga within the scope of the maturation of conditions leading Sinan to becoming master architect and “ethnic-regional solidarity” suggested by Kunt.
