TÜRKİYE’DE CARİ İŞLEMLER DENGESİ VE EKONOMİK BÜYÜME ARASINDAKİ İLİŞKİ: VAR ANALİZİ

Abstract:

Cari işlemler açığı sadece Türkiye’de değil, birçok gelişmiş ve gelişmekte olan ülkede temel makroekonomik sorunlar arasında yer almaktadır. Son yıllarda Türkiye ekonomisinde ekonomik büyümeyle beraber gözlemlenen yüksek oranlı cari işlem açıkları ekonomik tartışmaların başlıca konusu olmuştur. Türkiye’nin uzun yıllara dayanan büyüme serileri incelendiğinde cari işlemler açığı ile büyüme arasında bir etkileşimin olduğu görülmektedir. Bu çalışmada söz konusu ilişki Türkiye’nin 1980 – 2014 dönemlerine ait GSYİH ve cari işlemler dengesi verileri kullanılarak VAR analizi aracılığıyla incelenmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda her iki değişken arasında çift yönlü nedensellik ilişkisi tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca etki-tepki analizi sonucunda cari açığın ekonomik büyümeyi olumsuz etkilediği ve ekonomik büyümenin de cari açıkta artışa yol açtığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.
