Abstract:

Whatever a belief system involves, mankind has always tried to change its fate and has developed many practices throughout history. These practices vary depending on many factors such as religion, historical background, geography, common consciousness, ethnicity and social structure; and can occur at passion ceremonies, religious ceremonies, celebrations and festivals. The practice of "unlocking", a practice that we can consider in the context of the destiny changing phenomenon, also occurs in the Hıdrellez festival. The aim of this study is to determine the unlocking applications that have the traditional name "Bicek" and live in Erciş region alive. In this study where the general aspects of Erciş are introduced and the information about folklore will be given, the "Bicek" tradition, which is compiled by the local people, will be compared with the previous researches and the Bicek manis with local accent.
