The present study was conducted to analyze in different categories and present the studies that could be accessed and conducted on methods and programs utilized in social skills training for individuals with hearing impairment. Document screening technique, one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the current study. Different criteria were adopted for the field of study. The first criterion was the condition that the screened studies would be published in a peer-reviewed journal or a national thesis center between the years of 2000 and 2015. In addition, empirical studies that were conducted with participants with hearing impairment and included methods and programs related to social skills instruction. When scanning the research articles, the keywords “deaf,” “hearing impairment/hearing loss/hard of hearing,” “social skills,” “social skill training/teaching,” “social interaction,” and “social competence” were used. The study was conducted with 6 articles and 2 dissertations, a total of 8 papers accessed by scanning Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University database, EBSCO-Host, National Thesis Center and Google electronic databases. Retrieved studies are presented under categories based on (a) demographical characteristics (dependent and independent variable, participants and their characteristics, assessment tools, the medium and the training period), (b) methodological characteristics (research method used, reliability among observers, application reliability and social validity), and (c) finding characteristics (monitoring and generalization information, effectiveness of the program and methods). As a result, it was found that applied curricula were effective in social skills training of individuals.
