Avrupa’da gerçekleşen sanayi devrimi sonrası yaşanan teknik gelişmeler Osmanlı İmparatorluğu tarafından yakından takip edilmeye başlanmıştır. XIX. yüzyılın ilk yarısından itibaren öncelikle savunma sanayinin ihtiyacının karşılanmasına yönelik sanayi tesisleri kurulmak suretiyle Avrupa’daki teknik gelişmeler Osmanlı coğrafyasına getirilmiştir. Başlangıçta yabancı ve azınlıkların oluşturduğu teknik uzmanlar tarafından kurulan ve işletilen fabrikalar da daha sonra yetiştirilen Müslüman ve Türk mühendis ve işçileri görev almışlardır. Gerek fabrikalarda çalışanlar, gerekse mühendishanelerde ve sanayi mekteplerinde okuyan öğrenciler ile okuma yazma bilenlerin okuyabileceği teknik makalelere, dönemin farklı gazete ve mecmualarında kısıtlı da olsa yer verilmiştir. Ancak, tamamıyla sanayiye dönük bilimsel ve teknik konuların ele, İbrahim Pertev tarafından Sanayi adı ile 1914-1921 yılları arasında İstanbul’da çıkarılmıştır. Sanayi mecmuası 1933 yılında İbrahim Pertev tarafından İzmir’de Fen ve San’at adı ile yeni Türkçe harflerle tekrar yayımlanmaya başlanmış ve Eylül 1935 tarihine kadar yayım hayatını sürdürmüştür. Bu tarihten sonra Endüstri adını almış olan mecmua, 1958 yılına kadar yayımlanmıştır. Bu makalede, 1930’lu yıllarda başlatılan sanayileşme çabaları döneminde yayımlanan Fen ve San’at mecmuasının sanayinin gelişimindeki yeri ortaya konulmak suretiyle sanayi tarihimiz ile bilim ve teknoloji tarihimizin aydınlatılmasına çalışılmıştır.
The technological developments that occurred in Europe after the industrial revolution have been closely followed by the Ottoman Empire. The XIX. From the first half of the century, the establishment of industrial facilities to meet the demands of the defense industry first and foremost has brought technological developments in Europe to the Ottoman geography. The factory was initially established and operated by technical specialists formed by foreign and minorities and was also later trained by Muslim and Turkish engineers and workers. The technical articles in which workers in the necessary factories, students who study in engineering and industrial texts and those who know how to read and write can read, in the different newspapers of the period, and in the different texts of the period, have been given a limited place. However, the treatment of scientific and technical issues that are fully industrialized, was drawn up in Istanbul by Ibrahim Pertev with the name of Industry between 1914-1921. In 1933 the Industrial Mechanism began to be re-published by Ibrahim Pertev in İzmir with the name of Science and San'at with new Turkish letters and continued its publication life until September 1935. The mecmua, which has been named Industry after this date, was published until 1958. In this article, the place in the development of the industry of the Science and Art mechanism published in the 1930s in the period of industrialization efforts began to be revealed to illuminate our industrial history and science and technology history.
