After the 2002 general election in Turkey, Justice and Development Party has received significant vote percentage and the Party has become single ruling party in Turkey. Under these circumstances, after long-term coalition period Turkey has started its transformation. At the beginning, like every newly established Turkish government, the AK party started to have problems with the Turkish army. The initial conflict emerged from democratic reforms aimed at harmonization with the European Union requirements. Actually, it was a classic disagreement, which has been seen all the time in Turkish politics because of the sharing of administration power between AK party and the army. This article investigates the role of Erdogan's policy and his political leadership on Turkish Army.
