The concept of self-determination is one of the most controversial concept in international relations discipline. The main reason behind this controversial case is the sole legal or political usage of the concept by various international relations actors in different times and areas. This study will evaluate the ongoing discussions between the approaches that accept the concept as a natural right of societies and the approaches that emphasize the political meaning of the concept. During this evaluation, Liberal, Marxist, Conservative and Radical interpretations, which deal with the concept regarding to its historical progress and various international actor levels, are taking into consideration.
