The Eurasianism is one of the most important aspects of Russian foreign policy. The present “neo Eurasian” approach pioneered by Aleksandr Dugin is nurtured by the “classical Eurasian” perspective of the past. Although Dugin refers to the classical Eurasianism in order to demonstrate the importance of the neo Eurasianism and to emphasize its depth and origin, in fact there are more differences than similarities between the two traditions. The differences can be grouped in four categories: conceptual framework, geographical dimension, perception of the West and geopolitical context. Moving from these differences, this paper through the questions "What is Eurasia?", "Where is Eurasia?", "What is the West?" and "What is the place of the Eurasia in the world?", attempts to make a comparative analysis between the “neo Eurasianism” approach of Dugin and “classical Eurasianism” concept.
