Bu araştırmanın amacı ilkokul öğrencilerinin sözcük öğrenme motivasyonlarını belirlemeye yönelik bir ölçek geliştirmektir. Sözcük Öğrenme Motivasyonu Ölçeği’nin (SÖMÖ) geliştirilmesinde kuramsal ve deneysel form birlikte kullanılmıştır. Literatür taraması ve öğrenci yazılı anlatımları doğrultusunda ölçek maddesi olmaya aday ifadeler belirlenmiş ve 40 maddeden oluşan aday ölçek formu düzenlenmiştir. Kapsam geçerliği çalışması sonucunda dört ölçek maddesi ölçekten çıkarılarak 36 maddelik ikincil form üzerinde yapı geçerliğini ortaya koymak amacıyla ölçek 182 dördüncü sınıf öğrencisine uygulanmıştır. Açımlayıcı Faktör Analizi (AFA) ve kapsamında Temel Bileşenler Analizi gerçekleştirilmiş; faktör döndürme yöntemi olarak ise Varimax seçilmiştir. Faktör analizi sonucunda ölçeğin 24 maddelik son formunun toplam varyans açıklayıcılık yüzdesi %44,73 bulunmuş olup üç faktörlü (içsel motivasyon, dışsal motivasyon, araçsal-amaçsal motivasyon) bir yapı ortaya çıkmıştır. Ölçeğin faktör analizi bünyesindeki Cronbach Alpha güvenirlik katsayısı α=.855 olarak saptanmıştır. Elde edilen sonuçlar SÖMÖ’nün geçerli ve güvenilir bir ölçme aracı olduğunu göstermektedir.
The aim of this research is to develop a scale aimed at determining the language learning motivations of primary school students. The theoretical and experimental forms have been used together in the development of the Word Learning Motivation Scale. According to the scan of literature and the student's written narrative, the candidate's expression to be a scale material has been determined and the candidate's scale form consists of 40 articles has been arranged. The scale validity study resulted in the extension of four scale matters from the scale and the scale was applied to 182 fourth-class students in order to reveal the structure validity on the secondary form of 36 matters. The Opening Factor Analysis (AFA) and the Basic Components Analysis were conducted, and Varimax was chosen as the method of reversing the factor. The factor analysis found the total variance explanation percentage of the scale’s 24 material final form at 44.73%, and a three-factor structure (internal motivation, external motivation, instrumental-dimensional motivation) was found. The Cronbach Alpha reliability ratio is defined as α=.855. The results obtained indicate that SÖMÖ is a valid and reliable measurement tool.
