In this research, the negative automatic thoughts of the adolescents and their effect on social skills were examined. The study was conducted with 356 high school students. Students have applied the Automatic Thoughts Questionnare Scale and Social Skill Inventory. Pearson Moments Product Correlation, Regression Analysis and MANOVA were used for statistical methods. According to the results of the research, negative automatic thoughts in adolescents were found to have an effect on social skills. The result of the regression analysis reveals that negative automatic thoughts explain 21.3% of the total variance in social skills. There were no significant differences in terms of gender and grade levels. According to this, in order to increase the social skills in adolescents, it has been concluded that negative automatic thoughts should also be emphasized.
