This study aims to identify the level of shared and course-specific skills that are included in the Middle School Social Sciences Curriculum. In this study, 5th, 6th, and 7th grade Social Sciences textbooks that were published by the Ministry of National Education publishing house and private publishers, and accepted as textbooks for the 2013-2014 academic year by the decision of the Turkish Board of Education, were examined. Therefore, a qualitative methodology, document review, was used. The results of this study showed that the textbooks reviewed did not include enough shared and course-specific skills presented in the Middle School Social Sciences Course Curriculum. Also, the degree to which these skills were included varied among textbooks. It was also found that shared skills were emphasized more in the textbooks while course-specific skills were emphasized less and some skills were not included at all.
