Abstract:

This study examined what developments resulted in the recognition of the right of women to be elected and elected in Turkish history. First of all, the historical process that extends to the first decade of the Republic was addressed by the movement from the last years of the Ottoman Empire. In this chronological examination, the efforts of the Turkish woman, which is the face of the modernization movements in the translation of nationalization and the motherhood mission to take on the education of the modern generation, have been attempted to be compared with the events that occur in the internal political structure and the studies on women in the constitutional development, and the equalizing and restrictive materials that come with the adoption of the civil law. The right to be elected and elected to women lawful as a "modern" reaction to the increasing fascist and dictatorship in the outside world has been focused on the fact that the women's group left outside of social and cultural development has not been sufficiently benefited of this achievement and the transformation of the Turkish Women's Union in the historic process of the Women's People's Party, which cannot participate in this struggle, has been addressed. In short, it has been discussed whether the granting of these rights to women, as criticized in the 1920s’s newspapers, was favored to women who did not have sufficient criteria, or whether the women who acted together with the army during the war and received the necessary sacrifices.
