The culture of the tent and marquee, which reflects the Turkish nomadic lifestyle to place, not only has been maintained in the Ottoman era without losing any of its value but also has been survived in this period with spectacular way. It has been said that Semi-Nomadism, a life style of the tent from ancient Turkic to today’s Central Asia and Anatolia, which helped to start the tradition of the tent life style. The Turks needed shelter to settle in quickly and transportable easily, because of the specific requirements of the shelter and the lack of stable places and for this reason, they used the tents that best fit their conditions. Therefore, living conditions, climate conditions and various needs have led to the emergence of tents in different types and sizes. It is observed that the tent was used as a versatile and multi-purpose reason, during the Ottoman period. In the periodical of the documented miniatures, Nakkaş people who illustrated daily life of events often included tents in their works. The best exemplary tradition of the tent life style was represented by Otağ-ı Hümayun, a kind of marquee, which established for the sultan of Ottoman Empire. It is the miniature paintings, which reached to the present day, prove the best of such tradition exemplary of ten-life culture in the Ottoman period. While miniatures of that period will be examined through what purposes and aesthetic values in this research, it will be also searched for how such tent culture reflected of Ottoman culture.
