Abstract:

The aim of the study is to investigate the importance of sky gardens for the city and urban residents. In accordance with this purpose, the literature regarding the sky gardens was reviewed and the importance of the sky gardens was discussed based on the information obtained from the review. Today, the sky gardens offer important opportunities for city and urban residents from various aspects. For example, sky gardens can create easily accessible recreation areas for highrise residential buildings and workplaces, ameliorate the air quality of city and interior spaces, contribute to energy efficiency, support the physiological and psychological health of urban residents in positive way, provide a microclimate area in the urban environment and also help the fine particles in the air filter. Briefly, the development of sky gardens which are of undeniable importance for city and urban residents will make the cities more livable.
