Abstract:

Tea (Camellia Sinensis), a plant that grows in humid climates, leaves and buds are used in the production of beverage. People are consuming tea for many different reasons and they are some of them, such as organizing blood circulation, relieving fatigue, facilitating digestion and stimulating nerves. Tea is one of the first beverages to be remembered. Tea has an annual production of approximately 4 million tons while the annual market value is around $ 20 billion, with approximately 3 million hectares of farmland cultivated economically in more than 30 countries. The most important tea producing countries in the world, Japan, China, Kenya, India and Turkey among them, our country is among the top 5 countries in tea production and consumption. To contribute to the economy in Turkey, during the years of employment creation and establishment of the Republic in order to meet the demand for tea has been started tea cultivation. Tea cultivation in Turkey generally on the eastern shore of the Black Sea Rize, Artvin, Trabzon and Giresun constitute about 65% of the total production is performed while in the provinces of Rize. In Turkey, about 250,000 farmers in 76,000 da in area with an annual 1 million tons of tea leaves harvested done meets almost all of the domestic consumption. In this study, the production of tea in Turkey, where the country's economy, economic and social values of our country and the floor is produced will be examined.
