Abstract:

This research was conducted to reveal holiday habits of the police officers in Gaziantep Provincial Security Directorate. A questionnaire was prepared and applied to 510 police officers who constitute the research population. The data obtained from that questionnaire were analyzed using SPSS 23.0 software program. Study shows that police officers mostly spend their free-time in open air activities, country side activities, picnics or sports activities; and they do not regularly go on holiday. The study also shows that their main purpose of participation to tourism activities is to rest and have fun, to see new destinations, and enjoy the sea and sand. While deciding upon their holiday activities they negotiate with family members, evaluate their past experiences and listen to their friends’ suggestions respectively. According to the findings, the police officers purchase their travel packages including accommodation and transportation services via suggestions of their close-friends and internet or directly from the hotel organization. The study results also show that they mostly prefer to visit Paris, Mecca, and London respectively in outgoing tourism if they might find a chance. On the other hand, they want to visit Istanbul, Trabzon, and Izmir in their domestic tourism activities.
