Abstract:

Hanak country town that consists of our working area is located in Eastern Anatolia's Erzurum-Kars region in Ardahan provincial border. The county town located 26km away from Ardahan city center where it is associated consists of six streets. Working area that has 1810m average elevation, shows linear strike along Hanak water at North-south direction. The county town's fields that has morphological appearance like plateau are rugged terrain. While Hanak county's total area is 647km2, our working area's total size is about 151,53 km2. Harsh continental climate coditions seen in our country's Northeast Anatolia region, dominate the county area's fields. Annual average temperature is 4,04°C and annual rainfall is about 553,7 mm. The working area that is consisted of steppe flora and long meadow, has locally yellow pine forests. It’s deserved to be county in 1958 and according to TUIK data, it’s population is 2,924. The city whose settling time is based on b.c. 680s, was a small town until 1958 then it happened a county which is bound to Kars province, and then when Ardahan became a province Hanak happened a county bound to Ardahan. Working area economic activity which is shaped under harsh continental climate conditions, is based on stock farming. In the county center where cattle farming has a great importance, apiculture has also gained importance recently. The working area is located in central road that connects Eastern Anatolia to Georgia but it doesn't get development in parallel with it's feature.
