It is a matter of debate over which art discipline the cinema, considered as an effective mass media tool, has emerged from, since the cinema is the sum of many developments brought by more than one art form. As well as the cinema art itself, the content of the films has many characteristics. The topic “children” is just one of these characteristics. Istanbul met with the cinema in 1896 as a natural consequence of Sultan Abdülhamit's pursuit of developments in Europe closely. After a short time, the cinema spreads both in the capital city, Istanbul, and in the country and is welcomed warmly by people. The children, who often face the audience in foreign films, are not reflected in the scene at the same rate in Turkish films. The child image met with the cinema through the transfer of childish tales to the cinema. In this paper, it is aimed to obtain conclusions via data from the research about the place and the importance of children in the cinema. The organization of this study will composed of periodical publications, archival documents, memories and research due to the feature of the topic in question.
