Özet:

Background: It was aimed to determine the anthropometric measurements of hand and fingers and to investigate on broodiness of finger lengths in healthy population. Material and Methods: Healthy subjects was included in our study age between 18-25 years. In this study; hand and fingers anthropometric measurements were investigated. Moreover, anthropometric measurements of the foot in the healthy population were examined. Hand length, hand width, hand index, the length of fingers, finger lengths’ rate (2D/4D) were evaluated. After, these measurements the minimum, the maximum, mean and standard deviation values were obtained. Analysis of the data was performed by the Pearson Spearman correlation analysis and Independent Sample T test (data shown normal distribution). The study was approved by our institutional review board and ethics committee approval also was obtained. Also, "Voluntary Informed Consent Form" was signed to the subjects who are included in the study before making measurements. Results: The records of 80 healthy participants (40 females, 40 males) were assessed. The mean values of age, height, weight and body mass index (BMI) were found as; 19.68±0.73 year, 164.75±5.57 cm, 56.78±6.88 kg and 20.92±2.31kg/m2 in females respectively. The same values were found as 20.57±1.71 year, 177.88±5.24 cm, 75.30±12.69 kg and 23.79±3.76kg/m2 in males respectively. Additionaly, the mean values of hand length, hand width, hand index, finger lengths (2D, 4D), finger length’ rate (2D/4D) were found 17.55±1.17 cm, 7.63±0.52 cm, 0.44±0.04, 7.82±0,48 cm, 7.23±0.51 cm and 1.09±0.08 in females respectively, whereas the same measurements were 19.55±1.04 cm, 8.10±0.57 cm, 0.42±0.03, 7.21±0.50 cm, 7.48±0.59 cm and 0.97±0.09 in males respectively. When two groups were evaluated together; there were significant difference in all parameters (p>0.05). Moreover, there were no high correlation between hand and finger length measurements and finger lengths’ rate. Conclusion: When we compared our study with the national and international literature, we think that the differences in between our results and literature values result from various factors including gender, race, health care, participation in sport activities and geographical conditions.
