All over the world, especially in the last quarter of the 20th century, emerging communication technologies and rapidly changing economic, social and political environments commercialized broadcasting sector at a great pace. Turkey was involved in this period of commercialization at the beginning of the 1990s; commercial broadcasters have reached a great number and variety. The commercialization of broadcasting sector led to the occurring of thematic television channels, which aimed to reach different target groups. The number of children`s television channels started to rise in this period and after the 2000s there has been a massive increase in establishing new children`s television channels. In Turkey, outside capitalized children`s television channels have started to broadcast at first and then national children`s televisions have been established. In this research, all children`s television channel broadcasting in Turkey and ownerships, target groups and program productions of the children`s television will be analyzed. The distribution of children`s channel and children`s broadcasting industry in Turkey are analyzed in the context of satellite broadcasting, cable TV, terrestrial broadcasting, IPTV and digital broadcasting platforms which transmits contents to public.
