Abstract:

This study, which deals with the limits of the state from a sociological point of view, is a theoretical, and a field research in the other. In theoretical part, focusing on the new concept of boundaries that emerged with the modern state is discussing what the boundaries mean for nationality, nationality and modern territorial order. In the area of the study, the focus was on the Derecik region on the Turkish-Irak border. It has been tried to be identified by technical means, such as deep interacting and observation of the Gerdi family who resides on the border from the socio-cultural, economic and political aspects of the border and how it relates to the opposite side of the border and how it affects the lifestyle and culture. In this context, it has been found that the border is a self-specific socio-cultural extension scene in many ways, from relativity and relativity relationships to marriage, trade, relationships and the perception of the border.
