Abstract:

South Azerbaijan is an area where Azeri Turks live in the North of Iran. After Montreaux Convention, in the early years of Independence War and Republican period topics constucting Turkish- Iran relations are generally about South Azerbaijan. During the period Turkish troops tried to develop relations with Azeri Turks against Armenian and Nestorian threats from South Azerbaijan lands. Under Rıza Pehlevi’s government trials for convention of Azeri Turks into Persian began. Turkey, especially with the information from the First Common Inspectorship Chief of Consultancy’s travels to the area, was informed about the situation of South Azerbaijan. First Common Inspectorship Chief of Consultancy had some suggestions for interventions in the area.
