Abstract:

Technological advances are increasing day by day and the reflections are observed in the daily life. Tracking the daily life of the technology is becoming an indispensable element of the education. This research aims at identifying 5th grade primary students’ views on reading electronic book. This research is important in terms of determining 5th grade students’ wiews and needs. The research used a phenomenology of qualitative research patterns. The interview data have been obtained from 12 fifth grade students who studied in Gaziosmanpaşa district of Istanbul. Semi-structured interview were used in gathering qualitative data in order to reveal students' views in depth. Semi-structured interview form has two parts. In the first part the interview students were asked questions about personel information. In the second part the interview students were asked 12 questions to determine their wiews of electronic reading book. In this study, the data obtained were analyzed through qualitative content analyzes. The data obtained as a result, recommendations were given to 5th grade elementary school students to read electronic books. Besides, the student views point out an increase of reading skills and the availability of electronic books.
