Özet:

XIV. century was the time period along which the Ottoman state achieved a great success almost in every field. With its borders expanding in every direction, the empire neighbored other big empires Iran in the east and Hungary in the west, Crimea in the North and Arabian Peninsula in the South. A great progress in science and culture accommpanied the political changes and the advances in these areas were admitted by the world. The sultans in the throne were involved in fine arts and poetry and statesmen in every rank and field protected poets which led to the formation of various central towns famous with cultural activities. Again It was in this period that great personalites in Divan Literature earned their fame and the influence or persian literature dissolved and Divan poetry found its own natural flow. There were many other poets living in this period, though not having so big fame as Fuzuli and Baki, which were stated in the biographies . Kebeci-zâde, under the pen name Râhî, is one of them. Râhî worked as an advisor for Mehemmed Beg during his tenure as a lecturer in a Madrasah. He was taken as a captive while he was on a voyage to perform his pilgrimage. Though he had his freedom again, he did not live long and probably due to his short life, his poems were not well known. This article presents his biography and aims to complete some missing points through the information provided from his small poetry book, divanche, the only work known today. This work is also studied in detail for its poetical forms, rhythm, theme and stylistic structure. The work is also transcribed and typed in the current Turkish.
