Abstract:

Poet, musician and educator Memtili Tevfik Efendi (1901-1937) is a unique Uygur intellectual who was born in East Turkistan, came for education and had education in Turkey in his young times and trained as a teacher. After working as a teacher for a short period of time in Turkey, Tevfik returned to his ∗ Dr., e-posta: railekasgarlı@hotmail.comhomeland realized extraordinary successes of the last century in Uygur national education history with regard to opening schools in new procedures. He became martyr on the way of rescuing the people from ignorance and slavery. Involving his poetry with the Uygur national education enabled these poems to be saved and then to be published. While the poems of the poet are exemplary of the language characteristics of New Uygur language, it contains the language characteristics of Chagatai, Turkey Turkish and Atus Dialect as well. This case not only reveals the language characteristics of New Uyghur language in the beginning period but also it reminds once again the importance of mutual education in ensuring the unity in language, notion and work in the Turkish world as well.
