Serbest Muhasebecilik, Serbest Muhasebeci Mali Müşavirlik ve Yeminli Mali Müşavirlik Kanunu’nun 1989 yılında yürürlüğe konulmasıyla birlikte muhasebecilik mesleği yasal bir zemine kavuşmuştur. Bu kanun, meslek mensuplarının faaliyetlerine yönelik ilke ve kuralları düzenlemenin yanında, mesleki sorunların çözümüne ve muhasebecilik mesleğinin toplumda saygınlık kazanmasına dakatkıda bulunmuştur. Muhasebe meslek mensuplarının söz konusu kanun ile mesleki sorunlarının bir kısmı çözüm bulsa da, bazı güncel sorunları halen çözüm beklemektedir.Bu sorunların da tespit edilerek ortadan kaldırılmasına yönelik girişimlerde bulunulması gerekmektedir. Bu kapsamda yapılan çalışmanın iki temel amacı bulunmaktadır. Bunlardan birincisi, muhasebe meslek mensuplarının mesleki faaliyetleri sırasında karşılaştıkları sorunları tespit ederek, bu sorunların çözümü noktasında bağlı oldukları meslek odalarından beklentilerini ortaya koymaktır. İkincisi ise, muhasebe meslek mensuplarının karşılaştıkları sorunlara ve meslek odalarından beklentilerine ilişkin görüşlerinin, demografik özellikler ve faaliyet gösterilen ekonomik çevre açısından farklılık gösterip göstermediğini tespit etmektir.Bu amaçla hazırlanan anket formu Ordu ilinde faaliyet gösteren muhasebe meslek mensuplarına uygulanmış ve elde edilen verilere göremuhasebe meslek mensuplarının mesleki sorun ve beklentilere genellikle katıldıkları gözlemlenmiştir. Ayrıca,meslek mensuplarının söz konusu mesleki sorun ve beklentilere ilişkin görüşlerinde debazı demografik değişkenlere ve faaliyet gösterilen ekonomik çevreye göre anlamlı farklılıklar tespit edilmiştir.
