As mechanization in industry and capital investment on machinery have increased the maintenance of these systems gained more importance To be able to keep production costs at a minimum and increase on time delivery uninterrupted operation of manufacturing process is essential So firms should improve their maintenance systems for gaining cost advantage This study deals with the problem of assigning the appropriate maintenance policy to the considered machinery for achieving an increased efficiency through increasing the machine availability The machine system examined in this study is related with the production lines operating in a food production company In this study the existing literature on the maintenance systems and queueing models has been examined Then various approaches like determination of the number of maintenance worker the buffer stocks and period of the preventive maintenance and using the spare machine have been applied in a food production company Key Words: Maintenance systems Queueing Models Machine breakdown Optimization Preventive Maintenance
