Abstract:

A Comparative Study on “Garziella” by Lamartine and “L’Education sentimentale” by Flaubert In this work “Garziella” by Lamartine and “L’Education sentimentale” by Flaubert have been studied comparatively We have tried to compare and contrast the above mentioned novels outstanding examples of Realism and Romanticism While investigating the similarities and differences we have studied the heroes heroines their emotional development and with their love The influence of money on love affairs and the function in this process have been studied as well These two novels based on mostly the biographies of their authors have shown a great similarity in their final chapters The male major characters recognize that they have not completed emotional development despite their old age and they have failed in this respect Besides while money is necessary for life and for sustaining interrelations in “Graziella” it is a means which helps Frédéric in “L’Education sentimentale” enter the bourgeoisie life of Paris and exist in such a society Key Words: Graziella L’Education sentimentale emotional development love money material love emotional love
