This study was performed to determine the effect of computer assisted instruction program on academic success of the 6th grade class students The research was planned and applied according to an experimental and a control group model on the students An overall of 40 students were selected according to their academic success from two different classes 20 students for the experimental group and 20 for the control group after an interview with their teachers The computer assisted instruction program on ‘discovering the Space Unit’ which had been prepared according to the aims and behaviors of the primary school education program with Macromedia Flash MX was tested on the experimental group for a duration of 10 h In the control group the unit was completed by traditional teaching methods at the same duration by a science teacher A multiple choice test which had been prepared and tested for its confidence and validity was used as a measurement tool The test questions were acquired from the course books approved by the Ministry of Education T test of the SPSS package program was used to analyze the data obtained from pre and final experimental tests The results obtained at the end of the study has shown that the computer assisted instruction program was more successful than that of the traditional education program in terms of academic success of the students Key Words: Computer Assisted Instruction Science Education
