This study mainly aims at investigating reliability and validity of the Turkish adaptation of the Burnout Syndrome Inventory short version developed by Pines 2005 – on students in non thesis master’s program and people from different professions The participants of this study were senior student teachers from Çukurova University The Faculty of Education 233 students 137 females and 98 males participated in the study The data of this research were collected through the Burnout Syndrome Inventory short form the Life Satisfaction Inventory and the Inventory of Stres in a classroom environment As for the results the principal component analysis showed a factor of which absolute value was higher than 1 00 This factor was able to explain 55 92 of the total variance and its absolute value was 5 59 The factor loads of items varied from 54 to 87 Also total score of items and correlation values were between 46 and 81 The criterion validity analysis indicated that the Burnout Syndrome Inventory short version had a correlation of 48 with the Life Satisfaction Inventory a correlation of 73 with depression scores a correlation of 70 with anxiety scores and finally a correlation of 70 with stress scores p < 01 Internal validity reliability coefficient of inventory itesm was 91 and test retest reliability was 70 The reliability and validity results in this study were in line with the results based on the original version of the inventory This implied that the Turkish adaptation of the Burnout Syndrome Inventory was an appropriate tool in measuring student teachers’ bornout experiences in Turkish culture Key words: The Burnout Snydrome Inventory Reliability Validity Student Teachers
