The aim of this study is to find out the relation of the fifth class students’ success on performance works and the rate of their family support It is also pointed out that the fifth class’ students’ parents participation in educational works is affected by such factors as social economic level age sex job relation with the child educational situation or not and whether that of support has an important effect on their success rate It is also searched the views of fifth class’ teachers and parents on parent participation experiences through this process performance works and the duration of this by means of the this study On the quantitative data it is studied with 297 fifth class’ parents and their class teachers differing in social economic level in six schools of Mersin Tarsus; thus the rate of their involvement is found by family involvement questionnaire and the social economic level is indicated by a questionnaire The relation between the students’ performance scores of Turkish Maths Science and Social Science and family involvement is compared On the qualitative point it is interviewed with eight volunteer class teachers and 16 parents based on family involvement scale results The conclusion of the study is that 100 of parents 33 7 has a low rate of involvement 108 of parents 36 4 has a mediocre rate of involvement and 89 of parents 30 has a high rate and there is an acceptable and meaningful relation between the scores of Maths Turkish Science Social Science obtained by the result of family involvement scale and home based involvement scale The result of family involvement scale differs mainly from social economic rate On the solution of the interview content analysis technique is used The analysis of the qualitative data parents refer that performance works necessitate searching as parents they have responsibilities carrying out this and performance works usually have positive sides they give equal importance to the works of all lessons Teachers refer to the facts that they don’t give works that necessitate family support there are responsibilities concerning teachers students and parents performance works have effect on student success and mainly on positive sides Key words: Parent involvement Performance works school family cooperation
