The aim of this study is to explore the relationship between empathy and anger with an applied research in a big firm from hospitality sector of Turkey The employees were handed a demographic and a field survey questionnaire designed for this study A total of 171 completed questionnaires were returned representing a response rate of 22 8 Demographic survey part of the questionnaire was composed of 10 variables to control the effect on research variables And 20 variables existed on the second part of the questionnaire to measure the empathic attitudes of employees and 34 variables to measure the anger levels and attitudes of employees The instrument consisted of these 54 items answered on a five point Likert scale anchored by the terms “strongly agree most frequently” 1 and “strongly disagree never” 5 SPSS pc version 13 0 was used for statistical analysis The research results indicated that there was a positive relationship between emphatic attitudes of employees and their anger control There was a relationship between anger and demographic variables including sex and age Interestingly the anger level of women employees was higher than that of men The research findings indicated that the older employees could control their anger more easily than younger ones According to the research findings the anger levels of employees working under the contol of a female superior were higher than those of employees having a male supervisor Key Words: Empathy anger hotel chains tourism
