: In this study it’s aimed to determine French preparatory class students’ opinions on reading strategies use A qualitative research methodology was used for the study Participants of the study were 15 volunteer French preparatory class students who studied at Eskişehir Osmangazi University Foreign Languages Department in 2008 2009 academic years Data were collected by means of semi structured interviews forms developed by the researchers and were analyzed with descriptive analysis technique The findings of the study revealed that most participants reported using bottom up strategies few participants reported using top down strategies and most participants reported changing their strategies in the situation of exam Key Words: Reading strategies Foreign language French preparatory program students
