Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to invastigate psychological counselling and guidance students’ views about the effects of group guidance activities on their professional and personal development Participants for this study were third year students who attended group guidance activities lesson in psychological counselling and guidance department Qualitative data were collected by asking students to write the answers of five open ended questions in questionnaire Data were analysed by using a content analysis method Result showed that as a result of attending group guidance activities students enhanced their awareness of actions and skills used for conducting these activities understood the importance of these skills developed their confidence for using these skills understood their thoughts and feelings and expressed them changed some of their thoughts and behaviour got to know people and understood them and develop their communication skills The results were discussed in the light of significance of practice on students’ counselling skill development and their personal development Key Words: group guidance activities psychological counselling skills psychological counselling students
