Abstract:

The purpose of this descriptive study is to identify the problems which teachers face while teaching basic reading and writing with sound based sentences method and defined of this problems to succeed strategy This study has been done 70 first grade teachers from 31 schools who work in primary schools located in Şırnak in the educational year of 2008–2009 Qualitative data were obtained with 3 different discuss from a simple random sample consisting of 11 first grade teachers Quantitative data were obtained from 59 first grade teachers working in prmary schools in Şırnak Qualitative data were collected through the semi structured interview forms Quantitative data were obtained by a survey The problems which faced to learning Literacy Education Process with the Sound Based Sentences Method and defined of this problems to succeed strategy survey and Student Identification Forms The data obtained with interviews were analyzed by descriptive analyses The data obtained by the surveys and student identification forms were analyzed by computing the frequencies and the percentages Results showed that non native language is Turkish children were continuing students at schools in different situations they were experiencing similar difficulties Teachers working at the school where non native language is Turkish students attend indicated the difficulties which their students faced as that; can’t Express himself little word knowledge using long time for learning pronunciation disorders deficiency of materials not understand from reading anything can’t answer the question which asked him her and forgetting the learnings Teachers working at the school where bilingual students attend explained the struggle method of this problems as that; using the visual materials activities for learning word knowledge individual working continual repeating doing some activities like sing reading story and using of similarly sounding words in folk narratives using body language and facial expression etc Keywords: Basic reading and writing Native language Sound based sentence method
