Abstract:

The Twentieth Century is the century of opportunities in which almost all the obstacles in book printing technologies were removed There is no doubt that this opportunities were recognized by the artists of modern and postmodern periods and books were turned into the form of the artistic expressions besides their role on archiving and documenting the art works In Twentieth Century the Artists Books were become an important part of almost every artistic activities and onwards the middle of the century the theoretical researches on Artists Books were begun Today the museums and libraries are collecting Artists Books and in some of the European and American Art Schools Artists Books programs are being provided Also interpretation criticism and research studies on Artists Books are being made In this study the definition historical background and features of the twentieth century Artists Books were searched In Turkish literature the researches on Artists Books are limited Contributing to the Turkish literature on Artists Books also has become one of the goals of this study Key Words: Artists Books Livre de’artiste Modern Art Contemporary Art
