Abstract:

Problems of students’ absenteeism have been researched in academic level as an important issue in educational process Prevention of students’ absenteeism is also one of the main agenda items discussed in planning studies of schools As a result of the researches; it is observed that students’ absenteeism particularly among second level students in primary education has been increasing every year The main aim of the research is to indicate the reasons of the students’ absenteeism in boarding schools YIBO This research was carried out with scanning method It covers 169 seventh and eighth grade students who are attending boarding schools in Elazig in 2009 2010 teaching year The data consists the result of the survey ‘the reasons of students’ absenteeism’ prepared by the researcher and the documents collected from schools archive At the end of the research the reasons of the students’ absenteeism was listed as; health problems the days before and after holidays and the placement exams Keywords: YİBO Primary School Students’ Absenteeism
